YVR-EWR canceled
The planned daily Vancouver-Newark service has been canceled. It was to operate this summer.Ask Mr. Li. ;)My best guess is that they need the aircraft for other routes: new Latin America cities, and perhaps the fact that CO is also doing an EWR-YVR route soon. Combine that with CX & AC service out of JFK to YVR & maybe it's too much for NY?well as I go in/out of yvr 4-6 times a year I am sad that this never got in the air Back to the UA hope the plane does not break in Yvr ( no maintence crew  up there ) and long comute thru sfo lax den or ord ... shoot ... JaneDoes anyone know what's going on?Another is that this flight would likely feed traffic to, or take traffic from, STAR partner and other carriers flying passengers across the Atlantic, or down to SAmerica.Huh? The flight time for this flight was scheduled for YVR-EWR 14:00-22:40 and EWR-YVR 08:00-10:59. You tell me how connections are possible to/from anywhere at those times.
Given the changes in US immigration rules, and the need for visas even if just transiting through the US from many travellers who might be using this flight for connections, the volume has dropped and the route no longer makes sense. This flight was cancelled before those new rules were annouced few days ago. So once again, doesn't make sense. My best guess is that they need the aircraft for other routes: new Latin America cities, and perhaps the fact that CO is also doing an EWR-YVR route soon. CO been flying EWR-YVR for the last couple of years. It is only seasonal; for cruise ship season; May-Oct. They fly 737-700 or 737-800 on the route.
- HFI rather think that as I foretold some months ago, AC's "simplification of" and recduction in transborder fares did nothing to boost revenue, profit, or even ridership, as all of their competitors matched their fares. This simply resulted in everyone carrying the same number of passengers but with much reduced revenue.
Methinks they are trying to back out of this scheme wherever they think it is safe to do so.Better use for aircraft is one answer.
