AKL-LAX Upgrade options!!

  • My wife and I will be flying ANZ from AKL-LAX in December. We are booked in Biz using CRTWSTAR. Would really love to try flying FIRST. We are both AC Elites. Are there any options for upgrades. I did a search on the forum and came up empty except using *GOLD coupons which we do not have in Canada. I thought it might be worth posting to see if there are any other options. Also, are the *GOLD coupons transferable! IF so, anywhere I may be able to look for a trade!! Thanks.

  • Basically the only ways to upgrade, other than $$$ (which you cannot do on a RTW) are;

    - Airpoints (NZs programme)
    - electronic upgrades given to NZ*G and NZ*E
    - UK *G coupons

    All are non transferable except for Gold Elites who can nominate 2 'friends' per year. Upgrades are also determined by a time window starting at 72 hours out.

    Op ups are only taken in an oversold situation and you would be behind NZ's *G and *E members, of whom there will be more than enough to fill the 12 F class seats.
