Kroger Gift Cards 10% bonus
LS
Checked at a local Kroger store and yes it can be done. The problem is I do not have anything to shop at the places where the Fling card can be used.
Kroger is very hit and miss with this...Safeway is excellent in this regard, and I have churned an awful lot of cc spend by buying gc's at Safeway
Now, Safeway...where are you??? :D
Even without the SkyMiles, it will be a nice way to replenish the pantry when the family gets back to the States this summer.
LS
will check the one by me...if you don't mind me asking, where are you at?
Better yet, here (http://cgi.ebay.com/350-Kroger-Nationwide-Food-Gas-Gift-Card_W0QQitemZ200217738829QQihZ010QQcategoryZ31411 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is someone who paid $350.59 for a $350 Kroger gift card. I have over 1000 eBay sales under my belt and one thing that eBay has taught me is that there are a lot of incredibly stupid buyers out there. That may sound harsh but it's true.
The 10% bonus is great deal for those of us who spend $100 a week at the grocery store. The card will be used up before labor day. I just wish there were Ralph's or Krogers in Northern Cal as it really isn't worth the trouble to launder the card through ebay given the recent anti-seller "enhancements".
Customers can exchange their tax refund or economic stimulus checks by presenting their check and a government issued I.D. at their local store's Customer Service Center. *Customers may purchase a grocery store gift card in $300 increments not to exceed $1,200. Each gift card will be loaded with an additional 10% dollar amount. The additional bonus amount cannot be used for the purchase of alcohol, fuel, tobacco, lottery tickets, dairy products, prescription drugs, or additional gift cards. Customers are allowed to purchase grocery store gift cards less than the total amount of their refund with the difference to be given back in the form of cash. The program is limited to one offer per household. Offer is available May 1, 2008 through July 31, 2008.

Supermarkets - Kroger, Ralphs, Dillons, Smith's, King Soopers, Fry's, QFC, City Market, Hilander, Owen's, Jay C, Pay Less, Baker's, Gerbes, Scott's Food & Pharamacy
Multi-department stores - Fred Meyer, Fry's Marketplace, Smith's Marketplace, Kroger Marketplace, Dillons Marketplace
Price-impact warehouse stores - Food 4 Less (in So CA, NV IN and IL only), Foods Co.
Kroger Bonus Points are given, if enrolled in Kroger's reward program as the card is used, not when it is purchased.
I think I'd rather rely on my own observations of the traffic at the local Kroger's store against Costco, Sam's Club and WalMart.
Kroger's is trying hard to more up market--because they are losing the lower end shoppers fast.
your rep was probably confused. most stores prohibit the use of a check, to avoid the check bouncing. using a CC is no different than if you bought $300 worth of groceries and paid with a CC
They do make sure that you only receive a maximum of $1320 for $1200 per membership card. My receipts read, "you have redeemed 4 GC bonus" (= bought 4 of the $330 for $300 giftcards).
Thanks for the 411
Gift cards are usually worthless once the retailer files for bankruptcy.
You need to look at the company as a whole and not just a one or two stores near you. If I were to do that then the QFC I was at a couple weeks was dead at 1030pm and think the company was going down the tubes. There is a thing called demographics. Now at 1030pm at the QFC I work at is still quite busy as well as the one just a few blocks away. Why you might ask? Because the neighborhood they are located in is by the nightlife of the city and easy to walk too and the stores are in the most densely populated part of the city. Don't judge a company just because of a couple locations. Judge it as a whole.
Purchased some Kroger giftcards at Fred Meyer's using a credit card. These can be used at any Kroger store. I used them to buy Shell and AA giftcards.
I suppose if you have a lot of time on your hands, you can use the Kroger cards to buy prepaid Mastercards and turn a 10% (minus $4.95 fee) profit. And then use your Mastercard to buy more Kroger giftcards...
The other Kroger units are also selling cards (Fry's, Ralph's, etc.) for the bonus.
They don't require an actual stimulus check, but do limit the card bonus to one per person.
Some of the other stores say they want the actual check, which is a problem if you have direct deposit.
use $212 GC for AMEX GC 2x $100 (and receive $25 Fling Card)

profit $8 + $25 gift cards
and
use 2 $100 AMEX gift cards wherever you want
Thanks. I went to Fred's today and purchased a giftcard and received the 10% bonus. The facade of this being a tax refund-related promo appears to be downplayed if not over. A large promotional poster next to the service counter advertising the 10% bonus on giftcards made no mention of it being related to the tax refund. Just presented it as a 10% added bonus to anyone purchasing a giftcard in increments of $300 up to $1200.

Rules aside, the impression I received was that there was no limit (beyond a $1200/$1320 max per purchase) on the amount/number of times you could purchase these giftcards (along with the 10% bonus). And even if there was, since they required no ID to make the giftcard purchase, there is nothing to stop one from coming back and purchasing consecutive $1200 ($1320) giftcards.
May be a division thing. Noticed the 15% discount on May 7. I cannot get the discount when outside the division unless I go to the cs desk & have them manually figure it & then they will give me cash back. Combine the 15% discount with the 5% discount on Wednesday for seniors (55+) AND double coupons, sweet deals!

I just used my credit card today. However, I first tried with my AMEX Platinum card and was rejected (later to find out that they thought it was fraud activity) so I used my Chase Mastercard. Too bad AMEX (although I do appreciate vigilence in credit card fraud...just hate it when I can't use the card when I want!)

Cannot get you AA miles but can get you AA tickets 15% off.
How?
0. Check at the Kroger store if they sell AA gift card with a Kroger gift card to start the cycle of events
1. Buy a Kroger gift card and get 10% off
2. Buy the Kroger gift card with a Chase or a card that gives 5% off grocery purchase
3. Use the gift card to buy AA gift card
4. Use the AA gift card to buy your tickets
The same can be done with Southwest/Marriott/Hyatt/BestWestern
Strictly speaking, a rewards card is required. In my case, the service counter pulled out a blank membership card from the stack, scanned it, and then processed my giftcard. But no personal information was collected or given.
By the way, it didn't take long for these things to hit eBay, see this (http://cgi.ebay.com/330-Kroger-Cift-Card-Certificate-Food-Gas-Nationwide_W0QQitemZ120256953740QQihZ002QQcategory Z31411QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

While I can understand the fascination with getting skymiles as well for purchasing the card I think the important thing here is that you are earning an additional 10%. That is the MOST important thing. With gas near me at $3.54 I use $100 in gas about every 1 1/2 weeks. So lets say $300 a month minimal. There is no bank or investment that will give me a 10% return on my money in a year much less a month. That's a guaranteed 10% return when I buy gass and worth buying the cards even if you don't get the additional reward of skymiles. $300 for a $330 gift card with no skymiles is a no brainer for me and not a deal breaker. Just my humble opinion.

That's the first question that I asked before I bought my first $300 card the other day, I can't speak for the entire chain but at least my local store customer service rep said that that gift cards can not be bought with credit cards, only cash.
Back when priceline gave you ebay anything points when you bought rooms, cars and plane tickets people had a lot of free $$. I would pay cost all day long back when I had hundreds of $$ in anything points.
15% off? I only get 10% off my Kroger brand purchases. Maybe it is a division thing?

the ads here say 1 per household. i assume they would enforce this by kroger card...
the question is, do they?
