Need advice on PHL-YUL rate for $209 RT

  • I'm not much of an Air Canada flyer, so but am considering them for an upcoming PHL-YUL trip because of the ability to earn UAL miles.

Myself and a friend are looking to go PHL-YUL roundtrip on Sep 27 outbound with Sep 29 return. So far, lowest fare I can find is $209 RT (including taxes) per person, available at Air Canada website and Expedia. Are there any better deals? Is there any way to get the second ticket cheaper? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

  • I think it would be 1500 status miles, only 250 each way YUL-YYZ.

  • I don't think you'll find a much better price, nor any sort of companion deal, especially not on a $200 ticket.

BTW, the add-on fees on transborder flights are murderous, check the breakdown of how much the flight is and how much the taxes and other non-tax fees are.

  • Since he's trying to earn UA miles, I think he should pay an extra $11 to get the 1000 Q miles.

FlyerAl, I am sure once US joins Star Alliance, then your US Air suggestions would be very attractive. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

  • That weekend fare you got is already pretty good so I doubt you'll get it any lower if you want to fly AC.

One suggestion for you though if you want more miles, fly via YYZ. It's only an extra $10 USD (YYZ airport tax) and you'll get 2000 Q miles roundtrip for YUL-YYZ-PHL-YYZ-YUL instead of 1000 Q miles on YUL-PHL-YUL.

  • So the question is, are 1000 status miles worth $11.00?

And FlyerAl, that sounds great, but does he really want to drive up from Buffalo? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif It's a joke.

  • You're right Andrew. Forgot about that.

Anyways, the price that you got is probably the best. So I think you should go ahead and book it if your dates are set.

  • yeah saw the $10 lower rate on US Airways. *A miles would be better.

Is there any type of companion certificate or something that I could get to get 2 tickets for the price of 1? Is there any online discount code to use when booking online? Or is all this just wishful thinking?

  • US Airways website (usairways.com) is offering PHL-YUL r/t for USD$198.95 per person including tax on those dates.

They fly brand new A-319s on this route.

  • i am a little pressed for time, so unfortunately i won't be able to take advantage of any creative routings. just trying to get the lowest price possible.
