AC - Can you change the freakin' movies?

  • For all the criticism that AC gets, I do like the redesigned cabin and personal tv's, especially in the A32X, E's and CRJ7's. But why , on 2 hr flights do they only have 1 Hollywood movie? Flying to Winnipeg Last week, I got to watch Tom Clancy's blockbuster twice in one day!
    Anyone know the rotation schedule for movies on the new seatbacks?


  • Doesnt seem like they have changed the AVOD on the E75/90's at all. Seems like its the same Two and a Half Men everytime.

    One another note, how difficult would it be to implement the map feature?

    I always thought it was monthly, though I've seen the same CSI episode etc., for many many months on a variety of equipment.

    Wild Hogs, Sniper and The Spy who Shagged me.
    enjoy because you'll see them a lot this month.
    On my flight to YHZ I saw 1/2 of Wild hogs on the way out, and the other 1/2 on the way home.

    I dare say I have watched every IFE VOD selection there is...multiple times.
    I wonder if it's a licensing/$$ issue.
    In particular the Embraers seem to have had the same VOD for 6-8 months?
    Am I wrong here?

    The E's and CRJ7's were never "redone".. they were like that from the start.

    True.. as reported here on FT, I was on one of the early CRAs. If you equate AVOD with XM, then yes I agree with you...

    I was on two EMB last week and the VOD did not work on either:D
    That ,IMO,has been the same for a while;)


  • I can only watch Red October so many times. The mainstream Hollywood hits are already old. It's only May 20th, but we need some turnover here!

    I flew on, what the crew claimed to be, the last CRA 705 to get AVOD installed YOW-YWG in mid-march. The screens were installed, but turned off. I was kinda ticked off because I gave up a YOW-YVR direct to be able to watch some TV for the extra 2 hours of travel time. At least I had some on the empty E90 to YVR.

  • I heard about the movie change on Friday from someone at work who was annoyed as he had started a movie on the way down and was expecting to see the end on the way home of a three day trip. Based on the complaints on lack of movie changes, the odds of that happening seemed like they would have been pretty small.


  • While going YYZ-GRU-YYZ this past January, they played "That Thing You Do" with Tom Hanks both ways.

    It's a good flick, but seriously I saw that movie eleven years ago in the theatre. Not to mention CBC played it a few weeks after that as one of those "Sunday Afternoon" type of movies.


  • And, as long as we're complaining, why are the movies formatted in 4:3 when they've installed a nice wide-screen display?

    I haven't noticed a change in the TV selections in months. They don't seem to do the old monthly rotation with the AVOD.

    You should email Air Canada and tell them about your experience. If your top-tier, you should get some AP miles (I did on a recent flight from LAX). The problem wit the new system is that if it doesn't work, you don't get anything...music or TV. But then again, the music programing on most is so terrible, i pull out my ipod or wish we had the ATC channel like UA so I can find out why we are running late :)
